The World As We Live It.

Comments Off

I have been really bad about updating this website. However, the activity of this site does not reflect the activity of the organization. Right now, there are several things going on for members to participate in and enjoy. We are working on a photo-style manga. It is still in development stages but once production starts we will release the publications on the website to add to the content of An-Ex.com. Althought, I am not here to talk about the happening of the organization. What I am here to talk about is something that was discussed at a panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta.

The World of Anime Culture. I’ve been immersed in this culture since the beginning of Animation Exclamation. I’ve had experience as a leader of an anime organization and as a general fan. I’ve attended several local anime conventions and with all this I have noticed that anime culture is really great. Anime culture is the only place where you find acceptance as the number one theme. Its very funny to find acceptance in a world whose fan-base is a group of people watching Japanese animation. I would dare to say that you find even more acceptance in the anime community than in the religious community. For example, homosexuality is not shunned in the anime culture it is actually promoted in some respects by the yaoi genre. In the anime community people do not have to hide their “love of cartoons” because in the anime community you can become who you idolize through cosplay. The characters that fans idolize are characters who exhibit qualities of nobility, self-sacrifice, friendship, family, love, honor, and more. You actually see more characters in anime that truly more heroic than in American media.

So, why is the anime community shunned? That is a simple questions but the answer is always “people do not understand others.” In the panel that I attended at Anime Weekend Altanta the presenter talked about the similarities between avid sports fans and anime fan. The similarity between the two groups of fans was amazingly the same in almost every way. The only difference is sports fans are people who celebrate the triumphs of athletes and anime fans celebrate the value of animation and their creators.

The world of acceptance is a world full of weird and crazy things but if you learn to understand something, even if you don’t like it, you will be in a world of peace. I do not have to love everything about the anime community but I understand that other like it and I respect those people. I respect their fandom as I would like my fandom to be respected.

Eleven Arts Inc. and FUNimation Entertainment are bringing the first film in a four part re-imagining of one of the great classics of anime to the big screen in theaters across America. Eleven Arts is the company that has brought you such celebrated Japanese films as Yoji Yamada’s LOVE AND HONOR and MEMORIES OF TOMORROW starring Ken Watanabe. FUNimation is known for releasing quality anime titles to the American market, and they have released such popular titles as “DragonBall” and “FullMetal Alchemist.” EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE is the first of four planned feature-films that will make up the Rebuild of Evangelion tetrology, and earned more than 2 billion yen in Japan. A re-imagining of one of the greatest classics of anime! “Evangelion” television series took the anime world by storm in the mid-1990’s, proving to be a surprise sensation for Studio Gainax and setting new standards for the mecha anime genre. Rebuild of Evangelion stays true to the spirit of the original, exploring all the same controversial philosophical and psychological themes that gave the series its depth and brought the fans back to watch it again and again. Additionally, Rebuild of Evangelion is being directed by the original creator of the series, Hideaki Anno. EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE closely follows the story of the original series, ensuring that fans of the original will fall in love with Evangelion all over again, while also exhibiting all new high-quality animation and promising a unique alternate ending, so that no matter how many times you’ve watched the original series there will be plenty of new material for fans to enjoy.

Evangelion is an apocalyptic mecha anime in which a group of teenage mecha pilots working for the international organization NERV must learn to do battle in giant armored mecha known as Evangelions to protect Neo-Tokyo from the threat of the invading alien Angels. The plot of Evangelion focuses on the development of the three primary pilots and a few of their colleagues at NERV, and explores themes of religion, identity, reality, and more.

AnEx is now at Middle Georgia College

Comments Off

30 October 2008 – Middle Georgia College (MGC) officially approved Animation Exclamation Koryo Chapter as a student organization. The news came after today’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting.

Our sources stated that we received high compliments for having the best written bylaws for a student organization from the advisor of MGC’s SGA. Plus, the entire SGA body voted for the approval and installation of Animation Exclamation with no opposition.

“I am very excited that we now have a chapter at MGC,” said Amanda Tripp who coordinated getting the chapter started. Tripp also stated, “I think that we will be able to do a lot of great things at MGC. I have met a lot of fans of anime, manga, and Asian culture on-campus and this will be a great place for them to get together!”

Halloween Black-Out Party!

We are having a Halloween Party on the October 25th!

So get ready to get your scary faces out from hiding! We are going to need all of your help getting ready for our spook fest! So give us your minds and eyes to get ideas for the party!!!

We are getting ready for the Halloween party! It is only 2 weeks away now. We are celebrating our Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 25th @ 6pm until 9pm. We are going to turn the OEMC assembly room into a wondrous world of black lights and anime! Please come dressed up in your cosplay or Halloween costume!

Since we are having this party instead of charging admission we would like for everyone to bring some kind of food and/or drink. Remember, the club has no money! We are poor broke children so most of the cost of the club is from money and services donated by a few dedicated people. Food and/or drink is the only thing that you will be required to bring.

We are going to require that you RSVP before the party. We are buying items for each of you and we would like to know how many people to expect. Please let me know if you are bringing any friends or are expecting anyone to come. It is important that you let me know so I can have enough material for everyone so that no one is left out. You can RSVP me by replying to this e-mail or calling/text me at 478-231-1761. Also, please let me know what kind of food/drink you are bringing. (If you have accepted on the Facebook or MySpace event listing then just send me a message about what you are bringing.)

Depending on how many people dress-up in costumes we will have a costume contest. So, please dress in your ghoulish costume or nicest cosplay. The winner will take home a nice prize!
