I have been really bad about updating this website. However, the activity of this site does not reflect the activity of the organization. Right now, there are several things going on for members to participate in and enjoy. We are working on a photo-style manga. It is still in development stages but once production starts we will release the publications on the website to add to the content of An-Ex.com. Today I watched a film that I came across by mere chance. The title of this film was The King and the Clown. A Korean film about a group of traveling performers who mocked the ways of the King and his consort. This caused them to get into trouble with the Minister of the King. Hey AnEx,
I am happy to announce that the preparations for tomorrow are going great! I’ve been told that we are going to have some visitors at tomorrow’s event which is going to be exciting! If you have a club t-shirt please wear it tomorrow if you can. It will help club spirit to see everyone who has a t-shirt wearing one. If you do not have a t-shirt please let me know and I will give you one tomorrow. We are going to get a group photo of the people who are at the event. The photo will be on the club’s website.
I am excited to see the club pick up speed. I have seen a lot of great people work to make this club great and once again I’m very proud to be an AnEx member. Tomorrow, we will have a brief business meeting. During the business meeting we will vote on having two meetings a month once again. Also, we will talk about having a Halloween party and some other topics.
I have not heard if anyone is bringing food. Please bring some kind of snacks or drinks. The club has plates, cups, etc. so we don’t need any of that.

Today I watched a film that I came across by mere chance. The title of this film was The King and the Clown. The story developed from there revealing corruption in the king’s court and the jesters way of exposing this corruption. Also, there is within this story a aspect of love between two performers.
If you ever come across this film please watch it. I rate this film 5 stars for its quality, actors, and story line.

I know that all of you are getting excited about our meeting/Mini-con on Saturday, September 27 at 1pm @ OEMC. We will be playing video games, watching anime, and learn important info from a panel!
I have received word from certain member that they will bring stuff to help this event. We still need a few things. Please let me know if you are able to bring any of the things we need.
Here is a list of what we need:
- Food (any kind of snack food will be fine)
- Drinks (Sodas or Kool-aid)
- AMVs
- Anime to Watch!!!!! (I need suggestions!!!!)
- 1 Guitar Controller

- 1 TV
- Wii System, 2 controllers, and multiplayer games
- 2 Controllers and WarioWare
- Nintendo Game Cube, 4 controllers, and Multiplayer games
- PS2 + Guitar Hero 3 and 1 Guitar controller
If you have something that you want to bring like a PSP + DDR you are more than welcomed to! Joey is working on getting our RightStuf.com discount back. (We lost it because we didn’t keep our information up-to-date). So, we should get it back soon. Joey has already submitted all the paperwork and we are just waiting on the acceptance letter and stuff that goes with it.
This event is going to be fun! I hope that you are able to make it and are able to bring friends! I encourage everyone (past members and present members) to come and just have fun!

Has the Revolution finally taken hold?
Recently MSNBC’s website, specifically the Business section, published an article in regards to Japanese pop culture in the United States. For those interested, the article can be found here.
This article hints at something that most anime fans already know; Japanese culture is slowly inching its way into American culture. Of course there is Adult Swim and the occasional Japanese show on the big cartoon blocks, but this article cites something bigger. Hollywood has cast its eyes on anime.
Perhaps the first salvo in the Hollywood onslaught was launched this weekend. While Speed Racer may not be a box office number breaker, it certainly has helped create a ‘highway’ for other anime inspired films. Next year a Dragonball movie will be released. A live-action version of Nickelodeon’s Avatar is in production. Spielberg has his eyes set on a 3-D Ghost in the Shell feature. Of course there are robots too, who can forget Transformers? Transformers II shall be out in the next few years to boot, not to mention the rumors of Robotech and Voltron films. DiCaprio even wants to look into a live action version of Akira.
Speaking of Akira, it was referenced in Kanye West’s music video for his song “Stronger.” Gwent Stefani has launched a Japanese inspired clothing line. Items from Bleach and Naruto are appearing in major stores; and how could anyone miss all the Pokemon that are still around.
Analyzing trend lines will yield only one result, Japanese “stuff” is becoming more popular. The question is how will these changes affect anime lovers everywhere? Could the sudden surge of popularity isolate those who have deemed themselves as an otaku? Or will there be a positive effect where everyone sings along happily to the theme from Popotan.
One thing is for sure; as long as there is money to be made Japanese related products will be sold. Entrepreneurs and Companies alike will milk the product for all it is worth before giving up on it. Sometimes this is good, other times it winds up being bad. “What will be the outcome of this exposure to Japanese culture?” that is a question only the history books can decide.
